What is Research?
Generally the image of research comes into our mind that it is something happening in the laboratory where some scientists are supposed to do some experiments. But if somebody trying to find out the opinion about packaging of milk through an interview is also doing research. The process of finding solutions to any problem after some analysis and study of situation is called research. To find the solution of a problem it needs to gather information by collecting some answers of questions which helps in solving problem. Such studies should not be under taken in haphazard manner, it need to be followed an organized procedure or system, more importantly when we want to repeat the study or trying to verify some finding. Any study we are trying to do should not only be done in a systematic manner as well as that system should be known to others.
Value of Research:
Research problem could differ by nature. It may refer to some unfavorable situation or simply interest of a researcher to calm any trouble in his/her mind. For example, a recent result of an undergraduate of XYZ University shows that 67% students get failed. That is a massive wastage of resources, and hence needs a research on this undesirable situation to find the solution of a problem. There could be verity of reasons with which a research may come up i.e. it may relate with students, teachers, curricula, availability of books, examination system, environment at home, and many more. So a proper need to be carried out to diagnose the situation and recommendations of the researcher may be applied to overcome such a mass failure of students.
In the same result somebody finds that top positions and score being captured by girls and its happening from last 3 years. So somebody might curious to find out the reasons on the matter. No doubt it is an academic matter but definitely a research problem also. Why most of the top positions were caught by the girls in different examination? This puzzle might be solved by a research. It makes a fine contribution for the body of knowledge i.e. to make some good discoveries for basic research.
The researchers try that their findings become useful for generating theories and models that could be helpful to understand human behavior and functioning of different structures at both levels organizational and societal.
Therefore, an organized, systematic, critical, objective, scientific inquiry, objective, data based may be considered as research that undertaken with the purpose to find answers for a problem.

The value of research for policy advisor/makers, managers, planners and other stakeholders is that it reduces the uncertainty in decision making process by providing information. There are four interrelated stages associated with development and implementation of a strategy:
- Identification of problems/opportunities
- Problems/opportunities diagnosis
- Selection and implementation course of action
- Evaluation of course of action
